The first day of Dhulhijjah 1437 falls on 3 September
2016, the Mufti of Singapore Dr Mohamed Fatris Bakaram has formally announced.
"According to astronomical
calculations, the crescent for the month of Dhulhijjah
this evening did not meet the criteria agreed upon by member countries of MABIMS
(Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore). As such tomorrow is the
last day of the Islamic calendar month of
Dhulqa'adah," he said in a statement.
This means Eid al Adha which is on 10 Dhulhijjah, will fall on 12 September 2016.
