Haj Committee of India issues warning against scammers

The Haj Committee of India has reported that scammers have been taking advantage of the upcoming Hajj to send fake messages on social media as a pretext for soliciting money.

Topics have included selection of pilgrims and the appointment of seasonal staff.

The Haj Committee stresses that any official circular will be available only on the official website, http://hajcommittee.gov.in/, and that it is not responsible for loss or damages that result from interacting with such messages.

It only has one account with the State Bank of India and another with the Union Bank of India, as reported in an official circular (PDF).
