Cultural Security Through an Islamic Perspective: Ramadan Dialogue to be held in Doha

The State of Qatar's Ministry of Endowment and Islamic Affairs is hosting a conference to be held during the month of Ramadhan that is aimed at providing a stage for open dialogue for the Muslim world.

The nine-day Cultural Security Through an Islamic Perspective dialogue, to be held from the fourth day of Ramadhan* to the 12th day of Ramadhan, leverages on the spirituality and self-reflection aspects of the month to gather respected Muslim thinkers, eminent scholars and academics, as well as prominent social media personalities in one place. 


The conference will address modern day Islamic culture and identity and review misunderstandings and misconceptions about the religion, and is to be aired live on Al Jazeera Mubasher TV. The organisers have also created the hashtag #RamadanDialogue for social media platforms.

The speakers will include the Saudi cleric and social media personality Salman Al Odah; Sheikh Dr Mohammed Abdel Maqsood, Deputy of the Commission for Rights and Reform; Sheikh Dr Thaqeel Al-Shammary, Deputy President of the Court of Cassation; Dr Gaith bin Mubarak Al-Kowwary, Minister of Endowment and Religious Affairs-Qatar; Dr Tariq Al-Hashimi, and the former VP of Iraq, Dr Jawad Al-Gohary, Professor of International Law.
