UAE outbound tourism expected to be worth US$24 billion by 2025

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Outbound Tourism Market, Tourist Numbers, Countries, and Purpose of Visit report has been added to ResearchAndMarkets.com's offering.

Outbound tourism includes the travelling activities of residents from one country to another. For the UAE, the market is estimated to be worth US$24 billion by the year 2025 due to increasing globalisation, says Renub Research.

The UAE has emerged as an important source of outbound tourism market over the years and is expected to grow due to factors such as a rise in disposable income, passion to explore the world and increasingly-efficient flight connectivity to different parts of the world. In addition, UAE citizens also choose to travel to learn about different cultures. These heritage travellers usually visit historic and culturally-significant sites to meet with the locals and learn about their traditions and ways of life.

In terms of purpose of visit, holidaymakers are most common. Other segments studied include business (MICE), visits to friends and relatives (VFR) as well as "others" - education and medical treatment for example.

Emiratis generally travel to Gulf countries nearby, like KSA and Qatar. In the Asia-Pacific, Emiratis like to travel to Australia, India, Malaysia, and Thailand. According to a UAE government survey held in 2015, there were 3.5 million trips from UAE, 40% of which ended up in KSA.

APME countries covered in the report include Australia, India, Malaysia, Singapore and Turkey.
