Food ingredients Asia enters Indonesia mid-October

Food ingredients Asia (Fi Asia), Asia's biggest tradeshow and meeting in the food ingredients industries, will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia for the third time in 2014. The food ingredient trade show will be held from 15 to 17 October 2014 at the Jakarta International Expo Kemayoran.

Over the last five years, Indonesia, as the most populous country in ASEAN and no. 4 in the world, has been a developing market for food ingredients with an average growth of 41% for processed foods. As the largest market in Asia for food and beverage products, the market in Indonesia will stay robust and is expected to have potential for the long term.

Rungphech Rose Chitanuwat, Business Development Director, UBM Asia, the event organisers, noted that Fi Asia is growing 25% per year. "About 450 participants and 13,000 visitors from 56 countries will be the targets of Fi Asia 2014. As many as 50 food and beverage companies in Indonesia will participate in this trade show, and it dominates more than 50% of the tradeshow area at JIExpo Kemayoran."

Food for a Quality Life on 15 and 16 October 2014 is held by the Indonesian Food Technologist Association (PATPI) in cooperation with the Southeast Asian Food and Agricultural Science and Technology and Department of Food Science and technology (SEAFAST) Center, the Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) and the Department of Food Sciences and Technologies, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, IPB.

Purwiyatno Hariyadi, PhD., Professor and Director of South East Asian Food and Agricultural Science and Technology - SEAFAST Center, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), said, "Asia-Pacific has been positioned as an important role to opened more opportunities for food and beverage industries, and local industries should be able to take advantages from these opportunities to introduce the potentials of this country. Both business players and public should be aware of the richness of Indonesia's natural resources which are potential resources for food ingredients industries that could help boost up the country's economic growth."

Ir. Adhi S. Lukman, Chairman of Program Committee of Indonesian Food & Beverage Association (GAPMMI) said, "The Fi Asia trade show is known more than as a commercial trade show because it provides added value for the participants and visitors a variety of useful activities for the industry. It is actually the best way for entrepreneurs in the food industry to visit Fi Asia 2014. It is expected that the trade show will motivate entrepreneurs to produce better products with high competitiveness so that they can compete with or even outpace other products in the global market."

  • Aafud Industry of Zhuhai, China, manufactures natural colours, food flavours and meat ingredients
  • Amano Enzyme, a Japanese company, supplies microbial source, non-GMO enzymes for the food, industrial, dietary supplement and pharmaceutical industries
  • Anhui Great Nation Essential Oils is the largest manufacturer for menthol crystal, peppermint oil and tonalide in China
  • Ansun Bioengineering specialises in ingredients based on fermentation. It offers amino acids such as l-arginine, l-glutamine, l-leucine, l-Isoleucine, l-valine, citruline, as well as d-ribose and feed-grade l-lysine sulphate
  • Apollo Ingredients of India offers enzymes, standardised herbal extracts and natural colours to the global nutritional, cosmetic and food industry. Its manufacturing facility is kosher and halal certified
  • Baolingbao Biology is one of the largest manufacturers of cornstarch processing products in China. Its main products are erythritol, Isomalto-oligosaccharide, fructo-oligosaccharide, maltodextrin, dextrose monohydrate, anhydrous dextrose, polydextrose, beta-cyclodextrin, high fructose syrup, glucose syrup and high-maltose powder
  • Beijing Tianlihai Flavors & Fragrances focuses on maltol and ethyl maltol
  • Boton Indonesia manufactures over 2,000 products in three board categories, namely, flavors, tobacco flavors and fragrances
  • Camlin Fine Sciences, India, is the largest integrated manufacturer of synthetic food antioxidants, including TBHQ, BHA, antioxidant blends, Ascorbyl palmitate and the food flavour Vanillin. The facilities are halal certified 
  • US-based Commercial Creamery manufactures specialty dairy powders, cheese powders, snack seasonings, sauce mixes, dairy flavours and more. We will be showing snacks that utilise our seasonings. We can also make custom seasonings based on your desired profile. Its products are halal certified with IFANCA
  • Copalis of France has focused on designing ingredients for healthy ageing products (collagens, fish peptides, cartilage powders, etc)
  • CSI Biotech from Guangdong, China, specialises in fish scale collagen peptides 
  • Malaysia's DagangAsia Net runs Dagang Halal, an online e-marketplace that showcases the Halal products and services that have been verified and authenticated by the Halal authorities. With Halal Trade Manager, DagangHalal facilitates the halal business-matching activities to assistant SMEs to source trade leads and generate sales through the online and offline marketing channels which simplifies the process for the merchants to manage B2B trade leads and to sell the products via a B2C merchant e-commerce website. 


Food ingredients Asia (Fi Asia) was held for the first time in the Southeast Asia in Singapore in 1997, followed by Thailand in 2002. Meanwhile, Indonesia hosted Fi Asia for the first time in 2010. Fi Asia 2014 is supported by the Ministry of Industry, the Indonesian Food and Beverages Association (GAPMMI), the Indonesia Association of Food Technologists (IAFT - PATPI) and the South East Asian Food and Agricultural Science and Technology (SEAFAST) Center IPB.
