President Jokowi was also invited to deliver a Special Address at the 11th WIEF, to be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on 3 to 5 November this year. With the theme Building Resilience for Equitable Growth, the 11th WIEF will give special emphasis to SMEs with over 3,000 government leaders, captains of industries, entrepreneurs, academia and digital experts expected to meet and explore business opportunities that transcend international borders, religion and culture. The WIEF has previously held forums in Malaysia, Pakistan, Kuwait, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, UK and UAE, and aims to bring together Muslim and non-Muslim communities through the common language of business.
During the meeting President Jokowi wished Tun Musa Hitam and the WIEF Secretariat well in its preparations for the 2015 Forum in Kuala Lumpur.
Tun Musa Hitam said, "I look forward to President Jokovi's personal contribution, as an Honorary Fellow, to further elevating the growing stature of the WIEF in promoting greater cohesion, collaboration and integration through business between the Muslim world and the non-Muslim nations and communities around the globe. Being the largest Muslim country in the world, Indonesia is certainly well placed to be an important prime mover in various fields that would bring huge benefits for the economic well being of the ummah*."
The WIEF Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation based in Kuala Lumpur, organises the annual World Islamic Economic Forum, a business platform showcasing business opportunities in the Muslim world, and runs programmes of the various initiatives of the Foundation that strengthen people partnership and knowledge exchange between Muslim and non-Muslim communities across the globe.
