Google launches My Ramadan Companion

Google has launched My Ramadan Companion, which gives visitors customised information, tips, and other related content for the month of Ramadhan based on their location.

Customised details include the time of sunset, traffic conditions, directions to a restaurant, the closest charity iftar, recipes, as well as Ramadhan content on YouTube.

"Depending on your location, Google Now will show you a range of relevant cards with popular YouTube videos, the latest Ramadhan news and information, and recommendations for apps that alert you to wake up for suhoor, enable you to design greeting cards for Ramadhan to share with the family, find halal restaurants around you, and countdown to iftar time," said Zain Kamal Masri, Associate Product Marketing Manager, Middle East and North Africa, in a blog post dated June 17.

The desktop version of the site is dashboard-style, with sunrise and sunset times for the next few days on the top left. In Singapore, sunrise is between 7am and 7.01am for the next five days, and sunset is from 7.12pm to 7.13pm.
