MIHAS, an annual trade fair held every second quarter of the year in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, will be held from 5 to 8 April 2017 at KLCC. Organised under the auspices of the Malaysian government, MIHAS is hosted by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) and is organised by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade).
The platform provides a springboard to the global halal consumer market, along with Islamic financial and investment services, organisers say. MIHAS 2016 hosted 539 companies from 29 countries and attracted 22,027 quality visitors from 75 countries. RM1.1 billion of sales were generated from the International Sourcing Programme (INSP) and the MIHAS exhibition.
Halal Fiesta Malaysia (HALFEST), held during MIHAS, is Malaysia's largest consumer expo for halal-certified products and services. According to the organisers, the global halal market is worth US$2.3 trillion.
HALFEST is designed to nurture small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) to create and promote innovative halal products and services to facilitate their entry into the global halal market while promoting halal as a way of life to Muslims and non-Muslims.
The five-day consumer event is expected to feature more than 600 exhibitors showcasing innovative and premium halal products and services. There will be family-oriented activities for all including competitions, product launches and demonstrations, free consultations, celebrity appearances and prizes.
