Twitter has brought back its hashtags for #Ramadan together with Ramadhan-themed emojis. A crescent moon will appear next to a number of hashtags, including #Ramadan, #Ramadhan, #Ramazan, #Puasa, #Sahur, and رمضان#.

Another emoji embodies the spirit of iftar as it illustrates a date along with a glass of yoghurt, which are commonly used to break the fast. The last emoji is a visual of a lantern that embodies the cultural spirit of the holy month.

Twitter is also celebrating Ramadhan on Periscope. Various hashtags in the title of a broadcast will trigger the transformation of hearts into crescent moons when viewers tap the screen.

In the Middle East, Twitter is launching the first Ramadhan TV guide bot on Twitter. Ramadhan TV viewers can send a direct message to the Arabic entertainment news portal @FilFan to receive a variety of categories to choose from: ‘Channels’, ‘Series’, ‘TV shows’ and ‘Now showing’. Once selected, viewers will receive a message that includes a list of series, TV channels, timings as well as a daily recap of their favorite series based on their selection.
