The Islamic Museum of Australia has highlighted Artist in Residence Abdul Rahman Abdullah, an emerging West Australian artist working primarily in sculpture and installation.

Abdul Rahman's work is part of the collections of Artbank, Islamic Museum of Australia, Campbelltown Art Centre, Murdoch University and the Art Gallery of Western Australia. In 2013 he was the West Australian recipient of the Qantas Foundation Encouragement of Australian Contemporary Art Award. In 2014 he was awarded an Art and Australia / Credit Suisse Contemporary Art Award and won the Fishers Ghost Sculpture Award. His practice draws on the storytelling capacity of animal archetypes to explore alternative definitions of cultural identity, focusing on memory and autobiographical narratives to examine esoteric social histories within an Australian environment.

The Artist in Residence Program 2015 engages the arts as a means for cultural exchange and encourages an exploration of artistic and cultural dialogue. The programme includes a residency in Malaysia with programme partner Galeri Petronas.
