Rayani Air, the shari'ah-compliant airline, has announced that its Air Service Licence (ASL) and Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) have been revoked by the Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) and the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) effective 13 June 2016.
The company will appeal to the MAVCOM and the DCA to give the brand a second chance with new investors taking over management of the airline.
"The revocations came at the peak of our negotiations with investors for the acquisition of equity in Rayani Air in realisation that the present owners and their management are no longer fit to revive the airline," said Ravi Alegandrran, Owner and CEO of Rayani Air, in a statement shared on Facebook.
"The qualified and strong management team of the new investors would revive and manage the airline much better than us."
According to Alegandrran the revival of Rayani Air is vital in resolving the impacts from its financial problems, including employees’ salaries and ticket refunds. Complaints that refunds had not been paid and allusions to pending salaries were shared by other Facebook users.
