The Al Faisal Museum for Arab Islamic Art in KSA, launched 1 June, is open to the public from now till 20 September 2017.
Located at King Faisal Centre for Research and Islamic Studies (KFCRIS), the museum was set up to increase the public's awareness of the inspirational aspects of Islamic civilisation and art. The museum also aims to encourage Muslim youths' engagement with their history in order to connect their past to their future.
The collection contains over 200 objects representing various Muslim communities over the previous centuries. Display objects are characterised by the geographic, material and historical breadth they represent. Chronologically, the collection begins from the 2nd century AH* and extends till the 14th century AH (2017 corresponds to the year 1438 AH).

The types of objects included are decorative arts, weaponry, manuscripts, scientific equipment and coinage. In terms of material, the collection is predominantly made up of metalwork and ceramics, but also includes several examples of woodwork and textile.
