Philippines to celebrate Eid al Adha on 1 September

The President of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte, has released proclamation no. 297 which declares 1 September a regular national holiday to observe Eid al Adha.

The proclamation was signed on 29 August after the KSA government and the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos recommended 1 September as the day on which Eid will fall. The date can vary slightly depending on when the moon is sighted in KSA.

Republic Act no. 9849 provides for the Islamic holiday to be celebrated as a regular holiday in the Philippines.
