MUIS reports all qurban livestock sold

The Singapore Mosques Korban Committee (Jawatankuasa Korban Masjid-Masjid Di Singapura, JKMS) has announced that all 3,700 livestock to be imported from Australia have been preordered.

Preparations for qurban at all 26 mosques are on schedule. All venues will adopt the same standard operating procedures to ensure that animal welfare and food hygiene standards are observed. In addition, as it is the requirement under the Exporter Supply Chain Assurance System (ESCAS), the korban to be performed will be subject to performance audits carried out by international auditors.
ESCAS is a regulatory framework implemented by the Australian government in 2012 to ensure that livestock exported from Australia to different countries are treated in accordance to the World Organisation for Animal Health’s internationally accepted animal welfare standards. To comply, the Australian exporter must provide a report from an independent and internationally accredited auditor to certify that livestock to be exported meet the standards required from the farm to the point of slaughter.
