Eighth update to Islamic financial services industry to be launched in August

The Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) will be launching the 8th edition of its flagship Islamic Financial Services Industry (IFSI) Stability Report 2020 during its Members and Industry Engagement Session (MIES), to be held online on 6 August 2020 at 3:30 pm Malaysia time.

HE Dr Fahad Abdullah Aldossari, Deputy Governor for Research and International Affairs, the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA), will be the Guest of Honour. He will officiate the launch of the report online.

The IFSB’s IFSI Stability Report series, which was first launched in 2013, has become an important benchmark publication providing an assessment of the growth, development, and stability of the IFSI. The objectives behind the report are anchored on the IFSB’s mandate to promote the development of a prudent and resilient IFSI.

In this MIES session, the IFSB will present key structural and prudential developments, assessment of vulnerability, resilience, and future outlook, as well as expected implications of COVID-19 on the global IFSI. This will be followed by a panel discussion to allow greater interaction and exchange of views among the industry’s stakeholders, regulators and market players.

The discussion will be moderated by the Secretary-General of the IFSB, Dr Bello Lawal Danbatta and representatives from the regulatory and supervisory authorities as well as market players. A question and answer session will be held after the discussion, led by Dr Danbatta and both Assistant Secretary-Generals, Walid Alzahrani and Dr Rifki Ismal.
