Project Goodwill Aid (PGA) has been busy this Ramadhan with a number of projects. Porridge and dates were distributed on the first two weekends, while the major Hari Raya Drive is to take place on 3 July (drivers still needed).

PGA has also created the PGA Hari Raya Special for the Children 2016. Aimed to ease the burden of families in need, those with large families, single parents or those whose parents are away, the charity is inviting donors to bring children out together with their parents or guardian to buy whatever they need for Hari Raya (Eid).

PGA estimates that clothing and accessories will cost at least S$100 per child, and suggests that the donor provide a modest iftar or some takeaway food after the session.

Donors can also choose to provide money (any amount) and PGA will arrange a session on their behalf.

PGA has been running a Hari Raya Drive for some years. The charity has the support from Al Amin Mosque this year, and is canvassing for volunteers and donations over the month. Sorting and packing will start at 1.30pm at the mosque on July 2, with distribution from 10am the next day.

PGA hopes to reach out to 1,000 households islandwide, and has a list of groceries that donors can purchase. Other brands are accepted, as long as they are halal-certified, but all items should be of the specified weights or sizes. Clothes are not accepted for this drive, however.

Eight collection points around Singapore have been set up to accept small quantities of items till 10pm on June 28 (call a day before visiting). Al Amin Mosque will also be open for drop-offs from June 18 to July 1, 5pm. Large-volume drop-offs should also be sent to Al Amin, with notice given a few days in advance.
