KSA Supreme Court announces dates for Hajj, Eid 2016

The KSA Supreme Court has announced that on the evening of September 1, which is Dhulqa'adah 29, 1437, the new crescent marking the beginning of the lunar month of Dhulhijjah 1437 was not sighted, reports the Saudi Press Agency.

Given the outcome, the Supreme Court has decided that September 2 is the 30th and last day of Dhulqa'adah, making September 3 the start of the lunar month of Dhulhijjah, 1437. 

This further makes 9 Dhulhijjah 1437 or September 11 as the day of standing on Mount Arafat, a key requirement of the Hajj. and that Eid Al-Adha will be on 12 September, corresponding to 10 Dhulhijjah, 1437.

The Emirates News Agency WAM has reported wishes from HH Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council for a safe return home of the members of the UAE official Hajj mission.

The mission arrived in Jeddah, KSA on September 1, accompanied by nine specialised committees.
