According to astronomical calculations as agreed upon by the member countries of The Informal Meeting of the Religious Affairs Ministers of Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore (MABIMS), the crescent moon for the month of Dhulhijjah, the last month of the Islamic year, appeared in the evening of August 22 after sunset, for about 33 minutes.
"Therefore, I am pleased to announce that the first day of the month of Dhulhijjah 1438 falls on
Wednesday, 23 August 2017. This means Eiduladha or Hari Raya Haji, which is on the 10th day of Dhulhijjah, falls on Friday, 1 September 2017," said Dr Mohamed Fatris Bakaram, Mufti of Singapore.
