In 1439, Muis calls for united community of rahmah

To mark advent of the Hijra year 1439 the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (Muis) has called for a united community of rahmah, one that is not divided by differences.

"As a community we must be mindful that the success that we aim for must deliver benefit and wellbeing to all those around us," the organisation said in a new year greeting to Muslims in Singapore.

Rahmah is the theme for Muis activities going forward. "In building a community of rahmah, Rasulullah s.a.w.* taught us to extend kindness and mercy to others regardless of one’s religious affiliation, ethnicity and socioeconomic status," explains a Friday sermon delivered in Singapore in early June 2017, during Ramadhan.

*Rasulullah (رسول الله) is the Arabic name referring to Muhammad as the prophet of Allah. S.a.w. stands for the phrase sallallahu alayhi wasalam (صلى الله عليه وسلم),  "peace be upon him".
