Anchor Food Professional's Raya inspirations star Anchor Extra Yield Cooking Cream

Fonterra Brands Malaysia's food service arm, Anchor Food Professionals, has introduced 10 traditional dishes reinvented using the Anchor Extra Yield Cooking Cream as part of Inspirasi Raya.

Paying homage to iconic festive dishes and desserts from different states across Malaysia, the campaign aims to ignite the kampung spirit by bringing a taste of home cooking to urban kitchens. Recipes include a variation of state-famous Raya staples such as rendang tok and rendang ayam pedas from Perak as well as rendang kambing hitam from Pahang.

Step-by-step recipes and demonstration videos incorporating the Anchor Extra Yield Cooking Cream were made possible with the help of Fonterra's in-house chefs, Chef Noorfiruz Mohamad Noor, Chef Ichiro Wong and Chef Chrispian Arthur Epui.

Source: Anchor Food Professionals Malaysia. Rendang ayam pedas.

Jack Tan, Fonterra Brands Malaysia's Foodservice Director said, "Following the COVID-19 pandemic, home cooking has been the choice for many families. As the country's largest provider of high-quality fit-for-purpose dairy ingredients, we wanted to provide home cooks with an accessible solution that serves the entire family's sophisticated yet simple culinary-at-home delights.

"Cooking and preparing for a feast during Raya is usually the highlight of the celebration. It has been a challenging year for all of us, and we hope that sharing these recipes will bring light, joy and happiness to those celebrating, near and far."

"Raya preparations is made easier with the Anchor Extra Yield Cooking Cream as it is made for convenience and saves valuable time in the kitchen while maintaining the recipe's consistency," Tan added.

Formulated for heat stability and creamier consistency, Anchor Extra Yield Cooking Cream is positioned as an alternative to santan (coconut milk). It is made from high-quality New Zealand milk sources, and delivered as a prereduced cooking cream with a 20% better yield than most UHT cooking creams. This means it requires no reduction, so 1 litre in the pack means 1 litre in a recipe.

More classic dishes and recipes such as bubur pedas from Sarawak, lontong Johor, ayam Masak Lemak Cili Api, Ikan Bakar, Kuih Lapis, puteri ayu and kurma Banana Shake can be found on Anchor Food Professionals' Facebook page.

In Singapore, wholesale bakery Bake with Yen is running a Hari Raya Anchor Promotion with Anchor Food Professionals SG. The company has a storewide discount on Anchor butter products, and will be giving out a free Limited Edition Anchor Food Professional apron with a minimum in-store purchase of S$40 worth of Anchor products.

Maybank expects more duit Raya to be given online

Maybank has forecast a spike in online festive giving in Malaysia via its platform this year.

Datuk Hamirullah Boorhan, Maybank’s Head of Community Financial Services Malaysia says that the bank is expecting a 30% rise in the volume of eDuit Raya transactions performed, and projects more than RM33 million worth of eDuit Raya being sent amongst family and friends. Duit Raya are gifts of cash given to children in paper envelopes during Eid al-Fitr (Hari Raya Aidilfitri) visits by those who are older.

He added that eDuit Raya has gained much popularity since its launch in 2015. “Over the years,
we have been enhancing the eDuit Raya feature which has contributed to its strong acceptance.
After the Raya QR was introduced in 2018, the transaction volume grew by more than 10 times
while transaction value almost doubled. We continued to see exponential growth in 2019 with more
than 700,000 transactions for eDuit Raya,” he said.
The eDuit Raya can be given in two ways – via Raya QR on the Maybank2u App - a peer-to-peer transaction method whereby the giver scans the receiver's QR code - or via a phone number using the
MAE e-wallet in the Maybank2u App. It is open to all, including non-Maybank customers, who can
sign up for MAE from the Maybank2u App fully online, and start using the feature immediately. MAE is the first and only shari'ah-compliant e-wallet in Malaysia.

Datuk Hamirullah also announced that as an added convenience this year, the bank has expanded
the list of zakat bodies collecting zakat fitrah online. QRPay Zakat Fitrah services will enable customers to fulfil their obligations this Ramadhan via Maybank2u and Maybank QRPay securely and conveniently. With these cashless options, he projected that zakat fitrah payments via Maybank would grow by more than 100% in 2020.

“The convenience in having the eDuit Raya and zakat fitrah online services is particularly significant this year as we have to observe social distancing, crowd control and limit travelling while celebrating this festivity,” he said.

“But as the spirit of giving is important and encouraged during the holy month of Ramadhan and Hari Raya, we want to enable our customers to fulfil their obligations of paying zakat, and keep the tradition of giving duit Raya to their loved ones despite the constraints. With Maybank2u, we can continue to share our blessings and help the less fortunate while prioritising safety.”

Zakat fitrah can be paid online via the Maybank2u website while customers who prefer to use the
QRPay Zakat Fitrah only need to scan the QR code on the respective state zakat board’s websites to
make payment through their Maybank2u App. Currently, 10 State zakat bodies accept payments via
Maybank2u – Kedah, Kelantan, Penang, Perak, Perlis, Sabah, Sarawak, Selangor, Terengganu and
Wilayah Persekutuan - while Penang, Wilayah Persekutuan, Sarawak and Perak are also able to
accept payment via QRPay.

Maybank is also rewarding customers through the Raya Paling Gempak (RPG) campaign with prizes worth up to RM2 million. During the campaign period, customers can also donate to the less fortunate customers via Maybank2u website and app. Additionally, Maybank2u App users can choose to donate the cash rewards they receive from campaign initiatives to the MaybankHeart’s People’s Campaign, which aims to raise funds for at risk communities during the COVID-19 outbreak. This feature was first introduced in 2019 and raised over RM600,000 in donations for the less fortunate during the various festive seasons last year.

Zakat fitrah is an obligation on a Muslim and his dependents such as his wife, children who have not reached maturity, and parents. The person should possess more assets than he and his dependents need on Eid al-Fitr. If he is unable to pay zakat fitrah, the dependents may pay on it for themselves and on his behalf. For those who fast, it redresses sins that occurred during fasting. The money is given to the needy.

Royal meal on selected MAS flights for Eid

In conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri (Eid al-Fitr), Malaysia Airlines will be serving a royal menu by the Raja Muda of Perlis, Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail and his consort, Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Raja Puan Muda Tuanku Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.

The royal dishes will be served onboard selected flights from 15 to 17 June 2018.

The menu is part of the airline’s Best of Malaysia initiative, under which the airline introduces authentic and traditional Malaysian meals in-flight and on the ground.

The kurma daging Perlis will be served to passengers flying First and Business Class on MH2 and MH4 from Kuala Lumpur to London, UK, as well as Business Class on MH150 from Kuala Lumpur to Jeddah, KSA and MH112 and MH196 from Kuala Lumpur to Dhaka, Bangladesh. Business Class passengers flying from Kuala Lumpur to Sabah, Sarawak and ASEAN destinations will also get to enjoy the dish.

The recipe is a favourite at Istana Arau, the official residence of the Perlis royal family, and is being served onboard as part of an initiative to promote Perlis cuisine both locally and internationally. The initiative was personally spearheaded by the royal couple themselves.

Passengers flying Economy Class on the above routes can also savour the kurma ayam Perlis, which features the same recipe but with chicken instead of beef. Both dishes are available on the first three days of Aidilfitri.

Alongside this, and to coincide with the Aidilfitri holidays, Malaysia Airlines passengers will be able to receive the special kids activity pack or Pilot Parker baby bib when they book their child meal beforehand. The Pilot Parker activity pack includes an activity book, stickers, and stationery to keep children occupied on-board. These items will be available until 30 June 2018.

For Aidilfitri, Malaysia Airlines is also providing traditional Raya meals for lunch and dinner at the Golden Lounge. Guests can savour nasi tomato, lemang and rendang, and sayur lodeh, as well as tart nenas, kuih bahulu and dodol before their flights.
Ahead of the Hari Raya holidays, Malaysia Airlines would like to advise passengers to arrive early at KLIA. Those travelling this Hari Raya are encouraged to arrive 3 hours prior to their scheduled time of departure to avoid congestion. Passengers may also check in 48-hours prior to their flight via web check-in at www.malaysiaairlines.com or via MHmobile.

To ensure seamless travel, MAS highlights that:

- Check-in counters will close 60 minutes before flight departure.

- Immigration and security clearance is an estimated 45 minutes.

- Have the required travelling documents ready.

- The boarding gate will close 20 minutes prior to departure.

11street kicks off Gila-Gila Raya sales

In the Ramadhan and Raya period of 2017, 11street predicts:

· A 50% increase in online sales on its platform;

· Malaysians will head online to shop for electronics, home gadgets and clothing apparels to prepare for Hari Raya;

· More Malaysians will purchase buka puasa e-vouchers online, and in preparation to balik kampung, buy more car services and road safety-related items.

11street, one of the largest online marketplaces in Malaysia, has revealed that in preparation for the Ramadhan and upcoming Raya (Eid) festival celebrations, more Malaysian consumers will explore buying new items online, such as e-vouchers and groceries, in addition to shopping online solely for items such as clothing and electronics.

Hoseok Kim, CEO, 11street says: “Malaysian shoppers keep surprising us. During the Ramadhan and Raya period from 2015 to 2016, we have experienced more than 2.5 times uplift in overall online sales. 11street projects that online sales will continue upward by at least 50% throughout the Ramadhan and Raya periods this year, thanks to our customers’ evolving shopping patterns.”

Malaysians will continue to shop for sought-after items online, such as electronics, home gadgets and clothing apparels as they prepare for Hari Raya, 11street said. According to 11street’s findings, there was a significant increase in the purchase of e-vouchers in 2016 as there are now more options in the category. Leading to that, the search for food and beverage e-vouchers surged to more than 1.2 million during Ramadhan last year.

Kim said: “This year, we expect consumers to purchase more of e-vouchers especially for buka puasa (iftar) buffets, encouraged by the fact that more five-star establishments and restaurants have hopped aboard 11street to offer their delectable spreads. We are constantly evolving to move faster than current online shopping trends, as you can see from our vast offerings. As we amplify our offerings and make online shopping more secure, we see consumers’ confidence in us improving, through the purchase of motorcycles on our platform!”

As the Hari Raya holiday period approaches, 11street also anticipates that Malaysians’ search for car services and road safety-related items to multiply rapidly as they prepare to balik kampung. Since its inception in 2015, 11street has witnessed at least a threefold increase in both searches and online sales for baby car seats and car maintenance packages.

The online marketplace notes that these trends are driven by the lower prices found online to combat rising cost of living, and also the convenience of online shopping coupled with the abundance in variety.

The observations were made in conjunction with the launch of 11street's new campaign. "It is endearing to live in multicultural Malaysia, as everybody celebrates all festivities here. 11street is excited to announce our latest campaign – Gila-Gila Raya – with a host of irresistible deals with shocking promotion discounts for every avid shopping shopper out there!”

On till 23 July, 11street's Gila Gila Raya campaign has promotion pages in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Irresistible deals on popular items, key brands and renowned ready-to-wear designer apparel start from RM1.

Throughout the campaign period, consumers can also enjoy credit cashback up to 22% for every purchase storewide, and instant shipping and free delivery for selected items. Last but not least, 11street’s Gila-Gila Raya campaign reaches a crescendo through partnerships with popular celebrity designers such as Remy Ishak, Amar Amran, MariBeli Butik; as well as consumer and lifestyle brands such as Firefly, F&N, L’Oreal, MamyPoko, Nestle, Unilever and Samsung.

“We are optimistic that Malaysians will continue to turn to 11street as they prepare for Hari Raya. Therefore, we are constantly cognisant of our consumers’ shopping pattern, so that we can create stronger promotions that resonate with their needs. After all, we want to make each of their shopping experience on 11street an enjoyable one, every time,” concluded Kim.

LATAR Expressway in Malaysia is toll-free on first day of Aidilfitri

The 33-km LATAR Expressway in Malaysia will go toll-free from midnight to 11.59 pm on 6 July 2016, the first day of Aidilfitri (Eid). The concession is applicable to all classes of vehicles throughout all the six toll plazas on the expressway. The 24-hour reload lanes for touch-and-go cards will also be fully operational during the holiday on top of the two Customer Service Centres.

“The toll-free-ride is in conjunction with the Aidilfitri break and 'balik kampung' season.” said Ahmad Fuad Ahmad Shahimi, Chief Operating Officer, LATAR Expressway. “This is our third time giving out the toll-free-ride to our users, after the earlier toll-free period enjoyed by the public during the opening of LATAR Expressway and the opening of Kundang Interchange last year. It is part of our corporate social responsibility and appreciation to the expressway users. Perhaps, with toll-free incentives, it could help to lesser the expenses of travellers during this 'balik kampung' period.”

LATAR Expressway links Kuala Lumpur from Templer’s Park in the Gombak district with Ijok in the Kuala Selangor district. LATAR offers an alternative route to the Northern Region via the coastal routes of Peninsular Malaysia. It serves Kuala Selangor, Assam Jawa, Ijok, Bestari Jaya (Batang Berjuntai), Kota Puteri, Puncak Alam, Shah Alam, Bukit Jelutong, Sungai Buloh, Kundang, Rawang and Selayang and offers a faster alternative to the cities of Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur.

LATAR provides two rest and service areas (RSAs) which are located at Kundang Barat and Kundang Timur, which include toilets, suraus (prayer rooms), food and PETRONAS petrol stations. LATAR Expert and Ronda teams are available 24-hours on the expressway to assist in emergency situations.

Singapore Kindness Movement wants to put those curious about Islam, Ramadhan and Hari Raya together with those who are willing to host them over a meal at home.
Singapore Kindness Movement wants to put those curious about Islam, Ramadhan and Hari Raya together with those who are willing to host them over a meal at home.

The Singapore Kindness Movement is initiating its Just An Extra Chair campaign for Ramadhan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri (Eid Al Fitr). The organisation is inviting those who would like to host guests at home for Raya to sign up.

Just An Extra Chair was last activated in February, when people who were spending Chinese New Year alone were connected with hosts who were willing to host them at their homes over a meal.

"We know that some of you are curious about fasting and the Hari Raya celebrations, and some of you are excited to share about your culture and customs, so we’re bringing back Just An Extra Chair!
If you are open to hosting some guests over at your house for iftar (breaking fast) or Hari Raya, please be in touch. If you’d like to find out more about Muslim culture, please sign up too," said the organisation in a statement.

Registration has closed for iftar opportunities. Sign up to host or attend a Raya lunch or dinner on 9, 10, 16 or 17 July. Registration closes on 4 July.

FLOW, the Malaysia fashion label, has introduced a Raya collection with the signature silhouettes and embellishments that it is known for.

The collection features a number of brightly coloured long-sleeved and three-quarter sleeved tops and dresses, and bold prints. There are also two pairs of pants. The is a black front twist overlap blouse (S$56.30) and a fuchsia long-sleeved overlap blouse (S$46.30) are the most intriguing pieces in the collection.

The short-sleeved kaftan (S$63) and border print palazzo pants (S$66.30, modelled in picture) are the only pieces designed to match in the collection.

According to the website, FLOW's founders introduced the label for curvy women whose fashion options were usually a "sack-like excuse for clothing". "A few more inches in our bust or hips shouldn’t mean we lose all shape in the clothes we wear. On the contrary our curves are more defined and so our fashion should be more structured," the brand states. "Clothing that allows us to express who we are under the surface."

The company offers comfortable apparel ranging from casual and contemporary to evening and seasonal wear, in a selection of sizes from US10 to US18. Shipping is free.
